All paints, varnishes, oils and waxes used are tested and certified according to the European standard for toy safety EN 71. This also includes testing whether the paints are resistant to saliva and sweat. The standard also assumes that paint shedding cannot be completely prevented. Therefore, it is checked here that only substances that are absolutely harmless can be released or rubbed off from the paints, even if they are swallowed and dissolved, for example by saliva.
Saliva and sweat resistance does not mean that the colours do not come off under any circumstances, but rather that the pigments released either by sweat or saliva are completely harmless, even if swallowed.
